Having hooked rugs for over 35 years, I was looking for something a little different to finish off my hooked pieces. Braided borders not only complimented the hooked piece, but protected the edges. I learned to Braid from Loretta Zvarick, from Pennsylvania. Loretta was a master at her craft. In the last 10 years I have worked along side many braiding artists, always learning something along the way I’ve attended the THETIS ISLAND RUG BRAIDING RETREAT since it began[mid- 90’s] and attended the NATIONAL RUG BRAIDING CONFERENCEIN Gig Harbour, Washington, studying under Donna MacKeever. I have been teaching classes from my STUDIO in Chemainus, B.C. for many years. I have an OPEN STUDIO every Tuesday and the first Friday and Sunday of the month allowing former students and all levels of hookers and braiders a place to net-work and encourage. Hoping you can all drop in , sometime! I can be reached at valgalvin123@hotmail.com or through my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/renditionsinrags , or call Val Galvin 250-246-3979.
