Lynn Roth

This class is truly open to anything you want to hook. An unfinished project, a brand new idea or a problem rug you don’t know how to master. Lynn is a very experienced hooker in wide-cut, fine-shading, proddy, geometrics, folk art, using patterns or designing one-of-a-kind rugs – you name it she has probably hooked it. She will bring this expertise to class and help you “get it done”.

All those unfinished projects can get you down.  Treat yourself to a finishing retreat.  Be it narrow or wide cut, punched or prodded,  bring it and together we will put in four days of enjoyable effort. Finishing techniques will be covered, as needed.

Spend a weekend with hookers and learn to hook.  This is an opportunity to try out a new craft in a small group setting and also be exposed to the breadth of an old skill that is both decorative and utilitarian. You will have your choice of pattern. We start Friday night and will be finished Sunday afternoon.

Lynn fell in love with the hooked rugs displayed at the Edmonton Klondike Days bench show in the early 90’s.That led her to the  Edmonton Handicraft Guild, and their encouraging members. She found this craft so addictive that she had to start something in Rocky Mountain House or move to Edmonton. That also meant that she needed training which led her to become a McGown certified teacher. She has been teaching/coaching rug hooking in Rocky since 2000 and has taught workshops in Edmonton, Summerland, and at Prairie Harvest.
